I have been working with Ian for over 2 and a half years and still continue to do so. The weight loss I achieved was small but I never really needed to lose much weight anyway. However, I have dropped a dress size down to a 10, and my overall shape has improved immensely. The best gain from training with Ian has been my overall health, strength and flexibility, plus he makes it fun, which is so important otherwise boredom sets in, and fitness training becomes a chore. Ian has trained me to run, I have never run in my life until the last 4 years, and am now about to enter my third Lincoln 10k, and the challenge this year is to run it in 1 hour. Last year I also ran the Great North Run [a half marathon] I could not have done it without Ian's help. In 2003 I gave up a '20 a day' smoking habit which I'd had for the previous 9 years, in this time I'd not done any exercise, my main focus was on entertainment (Pubs). After quitting smoking I put on the obligatory weight but didn't join a gym until 2005 when I realised that I was just over 14 stone. Even having joined the gym I wasn't seeing any real weight reduction because I just didn't push myself or know the techniques of resistance training enough to bother with the equipment or venture into muscle beach. Having spent about a year being trained by Ian I've made considerable improvements to just about every element of fitness. I now do 3 cardio sessions per week, flexing between interval training and steady low impact when in the past I could just about run for 3 minutes before having to stop, I also do 2 resistance training sessions per week utilising all of the training techniques that Ian has taught me, typically using free weights. In terms of weight, I'm now at 13 Stone, a good proportion of which is muscle density, i,e. the body fat is dropping. I can confidently say that if it weren't for Ian's gentle yet firm push and the techniques that he teaches I would not have made the progress that I've made to date, and enjoyed it! Ken Hall
